ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
Topic: Cultural celebration - Commercial cooperation: "Achin Sumatra after Tsunami Disaster & Helsinki Peace Accord"
Momentum:
Helsinki Peace Accord on August 15, 2005 was the historical event for the fate of the New Achin Sumatra region. As part of the celebrations, RECTORATE, University of Marburg, in partnership with MAGISTRAT, Mayoralty of Marburg, planed to prepare a preconference (1-3 June, 2006) and organize the inaugural Achinese International conference, Cultural celebration and Commercial cooperation (from 20 to 22 October, 2006), at the Marburg Old University Campus, City Hall of Marburg and various cultural institutions in the downtown.
The aim of the conference was to support the reconstruction project in Achin Sumatra after Tsunami Disaster and Helsinki Accord. Conference participants explored the many different facets of the gloryfying future of Achin Sumatra, including business and trade opportunities, art and cultural presentations, film screenings and community links, etc.
Plenary sessions included:
* Aceh Sumatra after the Helsinki Accord: International/Institutional Cooperation/Security Reform, etc.
* Aceh Sumatra Reconstruction: Industrialization Strategy/Alternative Energies/Business Linkages, etc.
Closed sessions:
(Only with invitation/for preparing a communique, contract or future projects, etc.)
Afternoon workshops allowed participants to explore in greater detail the areas of:
